Sail Montauk is Montauk’s only ASA accredited school. We offer public and private sailing courses in Lake Montauk and the Block Island Sound. We teach aboard a fleet of Catalina 22s, which are great for beginners and fine tuning your sailing skills. Start your Sailing adventure today with Sail Ontario in the historic shadow of the War of 1812. You’ll start your journey at the Madison Barracks Marina, named for President Madison and host to then 2nd Lieutenant Ulyses S. Grant. You’ll spend plenty of time on Lake Ontario, sail past the historic battlefield that saw action in 1812 and 1813, and have plenty of wind. Sails go up within minutes of leaving the dock giving you maximum time on the water to practice all the skills until they are second nature.

Our superior location by the mouth of Buffalo River makes Lake access real easy. Within 5-10 minutes departing from newly installed docks. you are under sail on the Lake. Our floating classroom is right by the dock ready when you are back for debriefing. Our instructors are patient, friendly and very experienced with any kind of weather situation. Buffalo’s summer season is famous for its variety of conditions, changing almost daily. The fleet of 13 boats ranges from small sailing dinghy’s to 32 Ft. Most of the beginner training is onboard HR 25’s, a boat selected for its sailing performance and large cockpit.
