China Ocean Sport Union was established in 2014, located in the beautiful coastal city of Sanya. Sanya is located at the southernmost tip of Hainan Island, China, between 18°09′-18°37′ north latitude and 108°56′-109°48′ east longitude. It is a tropical marine city with a humid climate and pleasant scenery. It has a beautiful view of the sea and the blue sea. Sanya is located at a low latitude and belongs to the tropical maritime monsoon climate zone. The annual average temperature is 25.7°. The highest temperature in June is 28.7°. The lowest temperature in January is 21.4°, so it is suitable for sailing all year round. Teaching vessel: We use the US imported large sailing ship Hunter 45 DS as a teaching boat. The Hunter 45DS has the brightest and most open deck salon. The extra-large deck captures a lot of natural light, and the curved windshield has a stylish taste. The hull is sturdy and can run smoothly even in harsh sea conditions. The huge T-cockpit is fully furnished and can act as a lounge. The hull and deck have plenty of light and fresh air. The Hunter 45DS combines the most popular design features to bring your sailing pleasure to a whole new level. Faculty: Sail School now has 4 ASA professional sailing certification instructors, with a wealth of teaching experience, so that each student can easily master the sailing skills. At the same time, our coaches also have the ability and qualifications for long-haul, transoceanic, night flights, and participation in large-scale sailing competitions. Teaching philosophy: We always adhere to the safe and happy learning sailing skills. Safety is always in the first place throughout the learning process. American Sailing Certifications Offered
Learn to skipper a 20' - 27' sloop-rigged keelboat by day, in light to moderate winds and sea conditions. Learn basic sailing terminology, parts and functions, helm commands, basic sail trim, points of sail, buoyage, seamanship and safety including basic navigation rules to avoid collisions and hazards.
Learn to skipper a sloop-rigged auxiliary powered 25'-35' keelboat by day in moderate winds and sea conditions. Learn cruising sailboat terminology, basic boat systems, auxiliary engine operation, docking procedures, intermediate sail trim, navigation rules, basic coastal navigation, anchoring, weather, safety and seamanship.
Learn how to sail a sloop-rigged, auxiliary powered 30'-45' sailboat during a multi-day cruise upon inland/coastal waters in moderate/heavy winds and sea conditions. Learn about provisioning, boat systems, auxiliary engines, advanced sail trim, coastal navigation, anchoring / mooring, docking, emergency operations, weather, and more.
Learn the the navigational theory and practices for safe navigation of a sailing vessel in coastal and inland waters. On-water coastal navigation skills elements are contained in the ASA103, Basic Coastal Cruising, ASA 104, Bareboat Cruising, and ASA 106, Advanced Coastal Cruising, in progressively increasing levels of detail.
Learn to sail a centerboard or multihull sailboat in light to moderate winds and sea conditions. Learn basic sailing terminology, sail trim, points of sail, crew responsibilities, seamanship and safety including capsize avoidance/recovery and navigation rules to avoid collisions.
Learn to skipper an auxiliary-powered sailing cruising catamaran of approximately 30-45' feet in length during a multi-day liveaboard cruise upon inland or coastal waters in moderate to heavy winds (up to 30 knots) and sea conditions.
The successful sailor will have the knowledge and skills to safely and competently dock and maneuver a sailboat under auxiliary power in a variety of conditions. Includes knowledge of steering and propulsion theory, wind and current, single and double-rudder monohulls, catamarans, safety precautions, knots and line handling, fixed and floating docks.
