Some numbers are currently estimated at over 700,000 named species.

Numerous studies have tabulated the amount of marine debris that is being dumped into the world’s oceans is around 1,400,000,000 Pounds with most of it originating on land. While the number has grown, we can alter that growth.
Where Can You Empty Your Holding Tanks?
It is okay to empty in the marina as the local wildlife enjoys feeding on human waste.While you are at it just dump motor oil in the water as well. So wrong!

In 1992, US Congress passed the Clean Vessel Act to help reduce pollution from vessel sewage discharges into U.S. waters. The Grant Program established by the Act will help fund the construction, renovation, operation, and maintenance of pumpout and dump stations to service recreational vessels.

With exposure to UV rays and the ocean environment, plastic breaks down into smaller and smaller fragments. The majority of the plastic found in the ocean are tiny pieces less than 1 cm. in size, with the mass of 1/10th of a paper clip.
