Sailing New England – Arabella Grand Tour

By: Charter, Destinations

UPDATE: A year ago we sailed the British Virgin Islands with ASA members aboard Sailing Yacht Arabella. ASA has a charter partnership agreement with the Manhattan Yacht Club that allows our members and guests to experience sailing aboard this majestic vessel. For obvious reasons, we can’t be on her today but soon we will all be back on her deck, smiling and sailing!

In late August 2021, ASA and the Manhattan Yacht Club will once again partner to deliver guests a luxury sailing yacht experience aboard the Sailing Yacht Arabella. Sailors will depart Newport, Rhode Island for the offshore destinations of Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, and Cuttyhunk.

We are announcing a 2021 date for a Grand Tour of New England aboard Arabella. Join ASA members as we visit Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, and Cuttyhunk during Labor Day weekend.

Martha’s Vineyard

From the book Hitchhiking with Larry David: An Accidental Tourist’s Summer of Self-Discovery in Martha’s Vineyard by Paul Samuel Dolman.

If you love all things sailing this part of the country is really a sailor’s dream come true. If you are on Martha’s Vineyard, you will be talking about sailing.

Did you know that the original Jaws movie was filmed on Martha’s Vineyard? Don’t worry, you’ll be sailing so you’ll be able to avoid the sharks. Take a look at this great Jaws movie location map.

Seafood lovers have endless options on Martha’s Vineyard. Sit out in the sun enjoying some local oysters or grab a few lobster rolls for the beach.

Arabella is a beautiful sailing yacht with 24 well-appointed staterooms and plenty of space over her 157-foot span. We have become accustomed to social distancing and there are plenty of spaces to tuck away with a good book as you sail from island to island.

Nantucket

The Nantucket Whaling Museum has a treasure trove of historical information and allows the visitor to take a step back in time to see the rich and not so rich history of this region.

Spend an afternoon walking the quaint streets of Nantucket and you’ll soon begin looking for a real estate agent. New England charm is in abundance in Nantucket.

Picturesque lighthouses are a calling card of the New England coast.

The scenery around Nantucket is worthy of endless photographs. Beaches, quaint neighborhoods and sunsets that make the sky dazzle with early evening colors are abundant.

CuttyHunk

This small island is full of charm and with very little to do. That’s a good thing. Take a long walk on Cuttyhunk and you’ll be introduced to a simple life in a New England paradise.

A walk around town is an unguided history tour of the island. The Cuttyhunk library, built in 1892, can be found next to the Cuttyhunk school that was built at the same time. The school does not always have students.

One of the highlights of the Arabella Grand Tour of New England is the clam bake on the shore in Cuttyhunk. On the final evening of the voyage, dinner is served with a local family that has been serving up a feast for visitors for years. Lobster, clams, sausage and plenty of laughs as your new found friends from Arabella gather for one last dinner together.

Arabella will be touring New England in late summer. Are you interested? Take a look at asa.com/arabella/
