5 Reasons to Check Out the Miami Boat Show

By: Boat Shows

Who doesn’t love a boat show? The 2016 Progressive® Insurance Miami International Boat Show / Strictly Sail Miami is happening from February 11 – 15. Winter shows in warm locations are the best, so we decided to do a top 5 reasons for checking this one out! This list is completely skewed towards ASA because we will be there and want you to visit us!

It’s Huge

With two locations and free water-taxis & shuttle busses to help you discover more than 1,200 boats on land and in the water with 400+ slips. Wear a pair of shoes you can kick off easy so you can check out all these cool boats. There’s also vendors everywhere showing off new gadgets, electronics, outboards and everything else under the Miami sun. Take a look at the comprehensive Miami Boat Show Guide.

ASA Sailing Simulator

Our Sailing Simulator, located at space 1370, is always a hit at the boat shows. ASA instructors are on hand to teach the basic concepts of sailing using a small sailboat and a large fan to generate wind. Boat show goers new to sailing can get a hands on feel for sailing without the annoying feeling of crashing into a bulkhead. People always have fun with the simulator and it’s a great way to dip a toe in the water without actually being in the water…does that make sense?

The Beneteau First 35 Carbon Edition

ASA has been partnering with Beneteau Yachts for years so when cool things happen with them, we get excited. At this show they will be showing off their new First 35 Carbon Edition developed in collaboration with Farr Yacht Design. It really looks like an amazing boat. Apparently it’s so light, two elderly women in their 80s recently picked one up and spun it around while a crowd gathered in amazement… that is extremely untrue, but it is very light, fast and gorgeous to look at.
