American Sailing Initiatives
It is not enough to just enjoy the water. It is inherent in every one of us, as sailors, to work to improve the sailing community. ASA is a collection of diverse individuals around the world collectively enjoying the sailing lifestyle. ASA campaigns focus on being stewards for the environment, expanding sailing into underrepresented communities and educating as many people from as many different backgrounds as possible. Sailing is for everyone.
Women on the Water
While U.S. businesses, politics and the entertainment industry revolutionize to include more women, the sailing industry now wants to ride the wave of equality as well. Just in time for International Women’s Day (March 8), The American Sailing Association, the world’s largest sailing organization, and America’s sail education authority, is energizing women to set sail with the announcement of its new crusade and education campaign called “Women Wake Up Zone.”
Veteran's Program
At ASA we recognize the sacrifices made by the men and women who have served or are serving in our country’s armed forces. As a token of our appreciation, and our way of saying thank you, we are inviting veterans, active military personnel, and reservists to share our passion for sailing by offering a discount on our ASA 101 Basic Keelboat Sailing Course at participating ASA affiliated sailing schools. ASA’s nationwide network of affiliated schools allows us to offer this program across the nation to say thank you for your service and show our appreciation to veterans, active military personnel and reservists.
