You are invited to participate in our June 19 – June 26, 2015 Victoria and San Juan Islands Flotilla. Our fleet of some ten boats will sail the same itinerary and gather for cookouts, dinners ashore, dinghy races and other activities. Experienced skippers and first-time crew are both welcome! Your flotilla leader will be on hand throughout for advice and guidance.

The city of Victoria boasts a spectacular harbor, and we will be tying up for two nights right at the famous Empress Hotel. We also visit San Juan, Stuart and Lummi Islands in the San Juans.

For centuries the call of the San Juan Islands of northwest Washington State has lured adventurous mariners seeking a special place. The hundreds of San Juan Islands range from small rocky outcrops to large forest-clad mountainous masses. Wildlife abounds on the land and in the sea. You’re just as likely to encounter tiny squirrels, deer and bald eagles as you are to see seals, sea lions and orca whales.

Our likely destinations for 2015 include

  • Bellingham
Beautiful, historic seaside town of Bellingham WA, just south of the Canadian border will be our port of departure and return. Major airline service or shuttle from SEATAC.
  • Victoria on Vancouver Island
Right at the waterfront with the historic Empress Hotel and Parliament Building, the BC capital shows its British heritage with double-decker buses, horse-drawn carriages, formal gardens, and tearooms. Victoria boasts many historic buildings and some of the most fascinating museums in Western Canada. World famous Butchart Gardens are a short bus or taxi ride away.
  • Roche Harbor on San Juan Island
Bring your camera. Roche Harbor is one of the island’s most picturesque locations. Originally a Hudson’s Bay Company trading post, today Roche Harbor is a scenic yachtsman’s resort.
  • Reid Harbor on Stuart Island
Rustic Stuart Island offers two good anchorages with lots of interesting hiking trails, including to the original one-room schoolhouse and the lighthouse at Turn Point, both in Stuart Island State Park.
  • Friday Harbor on San Juan Island
Seat of San Juan County, Friday Harbor offers many unique attractions including the Whale Museum, local art galleries and craft shops. Fine as well as informal dining are on offer at dozens of establishments.
  • Inati Bay on Lummi Island
We will anchor, raft up and have a barbecue dinner on the beach in this deserted cove surrounded by forest.
