Sardinia is the largest island in the Mediterranean, located just south of French Corsica and, until the mid-1900’s, it was for the most part unknown, until the Agha Khan started developing what is now the Costa Smeralda or Emerald Coast, a playground for the super-rich but, still it remains to this day to be discovered by American tourists and sailors.
The island has a lot to offer to foreign visitors, like historic cities such as Cagliari and Alghero, the prehistoric Nuraghe ruins, the beautiful Maddalena Islands and much more.
Even if you have sailed elsewhere in Italy before, you should make Sardinia your next destination and we, at Med Sailing Adventures, can help you discover the wonders of this fascinating island.
Join us for a weeklong sailing cruise in the Maddalena Islands and venture into French Corsica for a visit of Bonifacio.
We recommend that you fly into Olbia on Thursday, via Rome or other European gateways, and take a taxi to Cannigione. There are several resorts in the vicinity of Cannigione as well as comfortable B&B’s. A Thursday arrival will help you get over the jetlag if you fly in from North America.
We recommend that you combine this flotilla with a pre- or post-cruise trip of Sardinia or other parts of Italy, like Tuscany, Friuli, Rome, Venice, etc. You will not regret it.
Day 1 (Arrival Day): Friday
Dinner At The Floating Restaurant Acqua Marina
Get-together at the excellent floating restaurant Acqua Marina for a delicious dinner in a fun ambiance.

Day 2: Saturday
Departure from Cannigione
Provisioning and check-in on the boats after lunch. Departure from Cannigione around 17:00 and sail out of the Golfo di Arzachena to the bay of Porto Palma, on the island of Caprera. About 5.5NM.
We spend the night at anchor and dinner on board.

Cala Portese
The sailing is great here with constant winds and we get to see some interesting scenery like bizarre rock formations on the shore.
We will start sailing around the area, spend lunch in the Cala Portese and enjoy a nice swim in the anchorage.
After lunch, we sail about 10 miles to the bay of Porto Liscia, where we will spend the night at anchor. Dinner on board.
Day 4: Monday
Cala Gavetta
Day 5: Tuesday
Santa Teresa di Gallura
Maybe a bit of provisioning. Do we need some extra wine on board? But soon we will be out sailing again.
Next destination is the small port of Santa Teresa di Gallura where we will spend the night at the dock.
We can visit the typical small village and have a dinner at a local “Agroturismo” restaurant in the nearby mountains.
Day 6: Wednesday
Straits of Bonifacio
Depending on the situation at that time (weather, COVID, etc.), we will cross the Straits of Bonifacio and head for this picturesque city on nearby French Corsica where we spend the night there at the local marina.
Visit of the Old City with its fortress. Dinner on shore.
If, for reasons beyond our control, we cannot go to Bonifacio, we will have other fun alternatives available.
