ASA Mallorca Flotilla

Palma, Porto Petro, Blue Cave and more...

The Balearic Island of Mallorca has always been one of our favorite places to visit.

Its vibrant capital, Palma, has so much to offer. Warm weather, great sailing, fascinating history, its own regional culture, fun nightlife, delicious gastronomy. You can spend months here enjoying life. One of our participants liked it so much he bought a house there...

This trip will be a combination of fun sailing fellowship with some entertaining land tours during which you will discover majestic caves, vistas from a monastery, high up a mountain peak, and a stunningly beautiful national park island with an intriguing history.

We recommend that you arrive on Thursday before the start of the cruise in order to get a bit over the jetlag and to discover some of Palma’s many attractions.

Join us on a tour of the British Virgin Islands...
...not as a tourist, but as an exclusive guest onboard a mega yacht!
This winter, Arabella visits the British Virgin Islands. The BVI's are on the bucket list of every sailor and you have the opportunity to tour them on a mega-sailing yacht.

  • Arabella Testimonial Marge

“Steering a 157 foot schooner under full canvas in 20-25 plus winds was exciting, with the wind tearing at my hair. With beautiful blue skies and turquoise seas in 80 degrees, what could be better?”

    Marge Benning, Denver CO

  • Arabella Testimonial Tracy Kosbau

“Everything is taken care of. You don’t have to worry about anything. You just sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery, fresh sea air and fantastic ports of call to explore. In a very short time, we all got to know each other and everyone felt like family to me. I learned a lot, and enjoyed sharing this brief moment in time and space on this lovely boat called the Arabella.”

    Tracy Kosbau

  • Arabella Testimonial Tim Shuman

“What do a film producer, a tech consultant, a dad and his son have in common with a group of Puritans? They all boarded a boat named Arabella bound for Massachusetts, albeit 385 years apart. Unlike John Winthrop and crew the modern passengers sailed in comfort on an ASA sponsored voyage to Martha’s Vinyard, Nantucket and Cuttyhunk islands!”

    Tim Shuman

  • Arabella Testimonial Fred Wyckoff and Gerri Haan

“Absolutely no better way to relax… A full day of sailing aboard the “melts my heart” Arabella, lobster for dinner and slow trip back to the schooner during golden hour. Fantastic!”

    Fred Wyckoff and Gerri Haan

Everyone deserves this type of mega yacht sailing experience at some point in their lives, but few can afford it until now. ASA is giving you an opportunity to join us on this unique, and unforgettable, sailing vacation.

ASA Mallorca Flotilla

The planned itineraries for the trips are essentially the same. Remember, all stops are subject to the captain’s discretion and may vary due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Day 1 (Arrival Day): Saturday, June 11

Meet at the marina in Palma de Mallorca

We meet at the marina in Palma de Mallorca around lunch and will get introduced to the yachts. “Admiral” Mila will lead the provisions raiding party.
We will have breakfast and lunches on board and dinners on shore in local restaurants with one or two dinners on board. This will be discussed ahead of time.
After we have settled on board and we have been checked in on the yachts, we will start sailing and head out for our first stop of the night, the marina of Sa’ Rapita, where we will have the option of being at the dock or spend the night at anchor. Dinner on shore.

Day 2: Sunday, June 12

Porto Petro

We leave Sa’ Rapita and go to one of the many picturesque calas or anchorages where we will drop the hook for a refreshing swim and for lunch.
Our next destination for the night is Porto Petro, where you will have the option to stay at one of the mooring balls or dock the boat.
Dinner on shore at one of the many good local restaurants. Time for a real good
Paella?

Day 3: Monday, June 13

Porto Colom

We depart from Porto Petro and sail northwest towards Porto Colom, our next overnighting destination, with stops for swimming, snorkeling and for a lunch in one of the calas along the way.
Docking in Porto Colom and dinner on shore.

Day 4: Tuesday, June 14

Caves of the Dragon

We take local taxis from Porto Colom and go visit the spectacular Caves of the Dragon, where we will be entertained with classical music at an underground lake. A bit of a Phantom of the Opera atmosphere...
After the visit to the caves, we will go to a local vineyard in the countryside for a typical lunch and local wine tasting. On the way back to the marina we stop at the factory outlet of the famous Mallorca pearls where you can buy some fancy pearls for your loved one.
The last stop of the day will be the mountain top monastery of San Salvador from where you have a grand panoramic view of the island and the nearby sea. Return to the yacht and dinner on shore or aboard.

Day 5: Wednesday, June 15

Island of Cabrera

Our next destination is the hauntingly beautiful Island of Cabrera, a national
park. There are some ruins that attest to the presence of Greeks and Byzantines
and, during the Napoleonic wars, it was used as a prison island for French
soldiers.
The anchorage is spectacular and the view from the top of the nearby fortress is unforgettable. This is a unique place for some hiking, swimming, and snorkeling. We will have dinner on board. In the morning, we dinghy ashore to get delicious warm fresh bread for breakfast
This stop will certainly be the highlight of your trip (unless you really were
spoiled at the pearl factory outlet, of course).

Day 6: Thursday, June 16

Blue Cave

It is always with a bit of a regret that we leave Cabrera. On our way out, we will go to the nearby Blue Cave, where you can go for a swim inside the electric blue waters.
A few miles across from Cabrera, back on Mallorca’s mainland, we will drop the anchor at the white sand beaches of El Trench for more relaxing, swimming and lunch on board. That evening, we will be anchoring outside the small port of Colonia Sant Jordi.
Optional dinner on shore in the Michelin-rated restaurant Sal de Coco.

Day 7: Friday, June 17

Return to Mallorca

Unfortunately, this is the last day of our trip and we must return to our base but not without some more sailing, swimming and snorkeling before we arrive back
at the base around 17:00.
You can spend the last night on the yacht or check in at a local hotel.
