Arabella Grand Tour Sailing Vacation

Arabella British Virgin Islands Tour

Tour the British Virgin Islands with ASA - Tortola, Cooper's Island, Jost Van Dyke and more…

The American Sailing Association has chartered the yacht Arabella and invites our members to join us on an amazing seven day sailing vacation in the British Virgin Islands

Arabella is one of the most beautiful sailing yachts in the world. She epitomizes classic elegance and graceful style and has been an icon along the East Coast in summer and in the Caribbean in winter. Arabella is also US Coast Guard certified, one of the few mega yachts with this designation in our country.

“Arabella” is a 156 foot mega yacht featuring three masts with staysail schooner rigging. She has 20 staterooms with all the modern luxuries you’d expect on a mega yacht – all rooms have their own shower, heads, and individual climate control. “Arabella” has teak decks, a Jacuzzi, cushioned sun deck, as well as a covered aft veranda. Her main salon is spacious enough for all her guests to enjoy fine dining and features a beautiful varnished mahogany bar.

Arabella is an incredible sailing vessel and the captain & crew love to hoist the sails, turn off the engine and feather the prop and give you the chance to helm this magnificent vessel. Discover the magic of Arabella as she slices through the water powered by the wind.

The British Virgin Islands are the best cruising grounds in the world. Your week of sailing will take you from one great anchorage to another. You will start from themain island of Tortola and then visit Virgin Gorda, Cooper Island, Jost Van Dyke and Norman Island.

Join us on a tour of the British Virgin Islands...
...not as a tourist, but as an exclusive guest onboard a mega yacht!
This winter, Arabella visits the British Virgin Islands. The BVI's are on the bucket list of every sailor and ASA members will tour them on a mega-sailing yacht.
  • Arabella Testimonial Marge

“Steering a 157 foot schooner under full canvas in 20-25 plus winds was exciting, with the wind tearing at my hair. With beautiful blue skies and turquoise seas in 80 degrees, what could be better?”

    Marge Benning, Denver CO

  • Arabella Testimonial Tracy Kosbau

“Everything is taken care of. You don’t have to worry about anything. You just sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery, fresh sea air and fantastic ports of call to explore. In a very short time, we all got to know each other and everyone felt like family to me. I learned a lot, and enjoyed sharing this brief moment in time and space on this lovely boat called the Arabella.”

    Tracy Kosbau

  • Arabella Testimonial Tim Shuman

“What do a film producer, a tech consultant, a dad and his son have in common with a group of Puritans? They all boarded a boat named Arabella bound for Massachusetts, albeit 385 years apart. Unlike John Winthrop and crew the modern passengers sailed in comfort on an ASA sponsored voyage to Martha’s Vinyard, Nantucket and Cuttyhunk islands!”

    Tim Shuman

  • Arabella Testimonial Fred Wyckoff and Gerri Haan

“Absolutely no better way to relax… A full day of sailing aboard the “melts my heart” Arabella, lobster for dinner and slow trip back to the schooner during golden hour. Fantastic!”

    Fred Wyckoff and Gerri Haan

Everyone deserves this type of mega yacht sailing experience at some point in their lives, but few can afford it until now. As an ASA member you have the opportunity to join us on this unique, and unforgettable, sailing vacation.

Staterooms are available exclusively for ASA Members and start from $1,512 / person.

The ASA Tour of the British Virgin Islands

The planned itineraries for December and January are the same. Remember, all stops are subject to the captain’s discretion and may vary due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Day 1 & 2

Arrive in Soper's Hole

Arabella will be anchored and waiting for you off Soper's Hole (her draft is too deep to come to dock). Guests will be able to board Arabella after 6pm on Day 1. Once aboard, you will be assigned your cabin.

Day 2 we set sail to our first destination, Marina Cay. There is good snorkeling nearby and you can visit luxurious Scrub Island. The sunset from the top of Marina Cay is memorable. Dinner will be served aboard Arabella this evening.

Day 3

Sail to Virgin Gorda
After a leisurely breakfast, Arabella will sail to North Sound in Virgin Gorda. This is the Caribbean paradise you have had wild dreams about. Beaches, snorkeling, sun and sand await. A bonfire on the beach, romantic cocktails on the deck, day 2 will reset your soul. For dinner, try Fat Virgins for relaxed local fare or take the tender to one of many choices nearby.

Day 4

North Sound
This is your day of rest. Wake up slowly, stretch, do yoga or go for a swim. You can schedule dive and snorkeling expeditions or rent some Lasers or Hobies. There is also a full spa with relaxing massages nearby. Visit Saba Rock for happy hour and see the feeding of the fish. Evening is another opportunity to take advantage of the many dining options in North Sound.

Day 5

Spanish Town
It is time to continue our journey and we sail downwind. Our first stop is off Spanish Town so you can visit the Baths. This is an ancient boulder formation at the southern tip of Virgin Gorda. You can walk through the boulders and then sun bathe and swim at Devil’s Bay. Another great location to visit is the “Top of the Baths” where you can look out over Sir Francis Drake Channel. In the afternoon, we sail over to Cooper Island. There is excellent snorkeling nearby and the beach club has comfortable chairs for resting underneath the palm trees. Dinner will be on Arabella this evening.

Day 6

Jost Van Dyke
We sail to Jost Van Dyck, home of world famous “Foxy’s.” Our first stop will be White Bay which is home to the Soggy Dollar Bar and the more relaxed Ivan’s nearby. The way you reach shore is by jumping out of the tender and swimming, hence the name “soggy dollar.” In the afternoon, we head over to Great Harbor and anchor for the night. You can sometimes catch Foxy, the island’s poet and philosopher, singing at the bar in the afternoon. Dinner is ashore and there is usually a dancing crowd at Foxy’s late night.

Day 7

Norman Island
After a leisurely start to the morning, Arabella will sail over to Norman Island. You can go snorkeling at the famous Caves or hike up the hill for a great lookout over the mooring field. There is also a new restaurant ashore called the “Pirate’s Bight.” Dinner will be aboard Arabella followed by music on the aft deck. Late at night, Willie T’s is famous for sailors who sometimes get caught up in the Caribbean spirit and jump into the water from the upper deck in a specific manner.

Day 8

All good things must slowly come to an end. Arabella will start early and raise her sails for one last glorious sail back to Road Town. We will anchor off the harbor by 9 a.m. so guests who need to can catch an early ferry. Then it is time to say goodbye to the captain, crew and all your new friends and ride the tender back to shore. You can spend a final night in the Caribbean at a nice hotel in Road Town or you can fly back home the same day.
