Learn to Sail - R&R Charters & Sail School

sunsetOur school is strategically located at Kent Island on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay across from Annapolis, Md. This area offers some of the very best cruising grounds for beginning sailors through advanced sailors. Within just a few hours one can be in a secluded anchorage in the Wye River enjoying the quiet as one watches the bald eagles circle overhead or on a mooring in Annapolis harbor with the hustle and bustle of a large metropolitan area or at anchor in Baltimore Inner Harbor.

bridgeFor our basic keelboat (ASA 101) and basic cruising (ASA 103) classes we sail in t he Chester River located east of the Chesapeake Bay. This allows the students to practice their basic maneuvers in protected waters and still enjoy large open water with lots of room for sailing. In the evenings, there are fine restaurants within walking distance of the marina and as well as three local hotels, where students can stay over night with indoor and outdoor pools. All have excellent views of busy Kent Narrows.

riverDuring our bareboat charter (ASA 104) class we cruise to St. Michaels on the Eastern Shore, (this has become one of the top destinations on the Bay), enjoy a fresh crab dinner on shore, and spend the evening anchored in the quiet of the Wye River just outside of this quaint town. In contrast we then spend our second night in Annapolis, MD and the final night in Baltimore Inner Harbor.

Those who choose to continue with the advanced coastal cruising (ASA 106) have the opportunity to experience the entire length of the Chesapeake Bay from the C&D Canal, the Delaware Bay, Delmarva Coast, Norfolk, VA, St. Marys, MD, Solomon’s Island, and the Choptank River.
