April 14, 2009 Mandatory Life Jacket Use (PFDs) for Children

WISCONSIN - ACTION ALERT - SB 162
Current Status: SB 162 ( by Senator Sullivan and several co-sponsors ) was introduced late last week. A companion bill is expected shortly in the House. Both bills require that children 12 and under will wear appropriate life jackets (PFDs) when they are on boats under way. Expectations for passage are very high.

Action Needed: Supporters of such action are urged to contact their legislators with letters and emails and phone calls asking for passage of this needed legislation. Wisconsin is one of only two states (the other being Virginia) that has no child life jacket law.
